Privacy policy

How we look after your photos and personal information.

Last updated: 20 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Cardwick collects, why, and what your rights are. Cardwick is run by Jimit Patel, trading as Cardwick, United Kingdom. Email: [email protected].

What we collect

  • Order details: your name, email, delivery address and what you ordered.
  • Personalisation content: the photos, names and messages you add when you design your gift.
  • Addresses you look up: when you search by postcode, the postcode is checked with our address finder.
  • Technical problem reports: if something goes wrong on the website, your browser may send us a short note (the page, the error and the type of browser). It contains no personal details.
  • Messages: anything you send through our contact or trade forms.
  • Email sign-ups: your email address, if you join our festival reminders.

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Why we use it

  • To make and deliver your order (contract).
  • To reply to your messages (legitimate interests).
  • To send festival reminders, only if you signed up (consent). You can unsubscribe any time.
  • To keep business and tax records (legal obligation).

Who we share it with

Only the services needed to run the shop: Stripe (payments), Prodigi, our printing partner (to make and post your order, through Royal Mail or another courier), Cloudinary (to store photos and print files for printing), Ideal Postcodes (address finder), Netlify (our website host) and our email provider. We never sell your data.

Your designs are saved in your own browser, on your device, so you can come back to them. We can’t see a design unless you order it.

How long we keep it

Photos from designs that aren’t ordered are deleted automatically within 3 days. Photos for orders are deleted within 90 days of your order. Order and payment records are kept for 6 years for tax purposes. Email sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. Email us and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
